Bryan Comer
Director of Marine Program
Bryan Comer is the Director of the ICCT marine program. The marine program provides policymakers with the data and analysis they need to avoid, reduce, and eliminate pollution from the global shipping sector. Bryan is an expert on the design and implementation of policies at the International Maritime Organization, especially related to climate change and air pollution. He also supports European and U.S. regulators as they implement climate policies. He specializes in analyzing real-world ship emissions data, developing global shipping emissions inventories, and projecting future energy use and emissions scenarios. Recent work has focused on methane emissions from LNG-fueled ships, air pollution emissions from ships in Europe, and the health benefits of port electrification. Bryan holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Policy from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, as well as an M.S. and B.S. in Public Policy from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
