Remote sensing
It’s one thing to mandate emission reductions based on laboratory testing and another to achieve real-world improvements. Remote sensing of emissions from vehicles on the road offers the potential to monitor differences between certification results and actual emissions as well as deterioration of controls over time. Through its partnership with The Real Urban Emissions initiative (TRUE), the ICCT has published more than a dozen studies of real-world emissions over the past decade to inform policymakers, regulators, and manufacturers.
